Vaishali Gupta · Delhi Google
“I was struggling with depression for a long time and didn’t know who to talk to. She listens patiently and never makes you feel judged. I’ve seen a few psychiatrists before, but she really stands out.”

Psychiatrist or psychologist — whom should I see?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MBBS, MD Psychiatry) who can diagnose mental health conditions, order tests and prescribe medicine when needed. A psychologist provides assessment and talk therapy but does not prescribe. Many people do best with both. At Anvaya Healthcare, Dr. Sneha Sharma works alongside clinical and counselling psychologists, so you can start with either and be guided to the right care.

What happens in the first consultation?

Dr. Sharma will ask about what you are experiencing, how long it has been going on, your sleep, health, family history and daily life. Family members are welcome if you would like support. By the end you will have a clear explanation of what may be going on and a treatment plan — which may be therapy, medicine, lifestyle changes, or a combination.

Will I have to take medicines for life? Are they addictive?

Not necessarily. Many conditions are treated for a defined period and then medicines are slowly reduced under supervision. Commonly used medicines such as antidepressants are not addictive. Some conditions do need longer treatment; this is always discussed openly, with regular reviews of the dose and any side effects.

Is my consultation confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between you and your treating team. Information is shared with family only with your consent, except in rare situations where there is a serious risk to your safety.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes. Dr. Sneha Sharma offers secure online video consultations for patients across India and abroad — for first visits as well as follow-ups.

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis to book?

No. You can book directly. Many people come in simply because they don’t feel like themselves; working out what is going on is part of the first consultation.

The first step is a conversation.
